Day 2 of Destiny Daily Devotional; James 4:7

Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

New International Version (NIV)

Oh how we love this scripture, because all we have to do is resist the Devil and he will flee from us ! This is true ,but it comes with a condition. That Condition is what we tend to overlook and that is the first half of this verse that says first submit ourselves to God. What exactly does that mean ? Submit actually means to put yourself under obedience to God. That means we must be accountable to our Father to follow His Word, Laws and precepts (Torah) . In other words we can’t just live our lives any old way we choose and not follow God’s laws and expect to resist the Devil and have him flee. If we are lazy and don’t work or pay our tithes why would the devil flee when he has a legal right to our finances to rob us ? But when we walk upright before our Father and like Yeshua are able to quote God’s word to him and say devil it is written, he has no choice but to flee and get as far away from you as he can , because there now is great power in your words or resistance. He only devours those he can(1Peter 5:8) and now you are not victim material ! You are now an over comer ! A person of Destiny in the Kingdom of God !
